What’s a California
Dried Plum?
At Taylor Brothers Farms, we grow the California dried plum, a new and improved offshoot of La Petite D’Agen, which is native of Southwest France.
At maturity, it has a royal purple outer skin and amber colored flesh. One thing special about our California dried plum is that it can be dried with its pits without fermenting, which is not true of all varieties.
Alongside this main variety, Taylor Brothers Farms also grows new and improved California varieties:
- Sutter
- Muir Beauty
- Moyer
The resulting fruits are the embodiment of high quality dried plums with:
- a pleasant, well-balanced, fruity flavor
- high sugar content
- fine texture
- ideal size
- smooth, small pits
Stunning (inner) beauty
We have to admit it: like most fruits, once it’s dried out, our beautiful plum does look a little homely. Appearances, however, are only skin deep: under that wrinkled surface lies a treasure trove of health benefits!
