A pleasant, well-balanced, fruity flavor
Dried plum trees start to bear fruit 4 to 6 years after planting and they reach their full production capacity–150 to 300 pounds of raw fruit per year–between their 8th and 12th year, maintaining it for about 30 years.
Plum trees, a deciduous species, lose their leaves and go dormant during the winter months. This is when we cut back and prune each tree to regulate its shape, control fruit size and maintain a healthy growth pattern.
A number of factors enable our prunes to reach full maturity on the trees under continuous ideal growing conditions:
- California’s rich valley soil
- a long, warm and clear growing season
- a good supply of irrigation water
Combined with state-of-the-art agricultural practices, this allows Taylor Brothers Farms to produce high quality dried plums that have all the right features:
- a pleasant, well-balanced, fruity flavor
- high sugar content
- fine texture
- smooth, small pits
- ideal size
